Compass

Compass is a free mentorship program that pairs SUNY Cortland college students with local community youth. Mentors and youth have many opportunities to connect—whether through studying, fun activities, or simply spending time together. Many youth express excitement about building relationships with caring young adults outside their family or school. Since it can be difficult for adolescents to share their feelings, having a trusted adult mentor helps them open up.

This program also benefits SUNY Cortland students pursuing careers in Psychology, Social Work, and human services. Working one-on-one with youth provides valuable hands-on experience and a chance to apply classroom knowledge in real life.
